Nestled in the heart of Charlotte at 5937 South Blvd, Doan's Vietnamese Cuisine invites diners to embark on a flavorful journey through authentic Vietnamese fare with a special spotlight on their signature pho offerings. This charming Vietnamese and pho restaurant artfully blends traditional recipes with fresh ingredients, delivering a menu that is both comforting and invigorating to the palate.
Their Eye Round Beef with Shrimp Pho stands out as a master of balance — a fragrant, clear broth simmered to perfection, richly layered with tender slices of beef and delicate shrimp that melt effortlessly on the tongue. Complemented by fresh pho condiments like bright basil, crisp bean sprouts, and zesty lime, every bite feels vibrant and nuanced. Not to be missed is the Broken Rice House dish, packed with grilled beef, pork, or chicken that boasts a smoky char and satisfyingly juicy texture, perfect alongside their cool Goi Cuon Chay spring rolls or the crispy, golden Banh Xeo — a Vietnamese yellow pancake bursting with savory shrimp, succulent chicken or pork, and fresh, crunchy bean sprouts.
The menu thrives on variety, offering standout options such as the Noodle Salad with Pork and Chicken, the savory Chef Special Curry Chick Pho Style, and the Bun DAC Viet which layers textures and flavors seamlessly. Vegetarians will appreciate the Lemongrass Tofu, Tofu & Mixed Vegetable dishes, and Fried Tofu, all thoughtfully prepared to showcase vibrant, authentic tastes without compromise. For a refreshing lift, their house-brewed Vietnamese Coffee and refreshing Thai Iced Tea serve as perfect accompaniments, each sip adding a lovely, creamy sweetness or a cooling reprieve from the heat of their carefully measured chili oil.
The atmosphere at Doan’s is as inviting as its menu, with a calming ambiance highlighted by tasteful decorations and soft, relaxing music that invites diners to linger and savor every dish. Friendly, attentive service enhances the experience, with staff going above and beyond — one guest even shared how the team kindly reheated their meal so they could enjoy it warm while working.
Customer voices paint a vivid picture of satisfaction and discovery: the savory, meat-rich pho often steals the spotlight for passionate diners, while dishes like the fresh, crunchy summer rolls and their perfectly balanced peanut dipping sauce leave lasting impressions. While some have noted slight room for improvement—such as pork summer rolls needing a touch more moisture—the overall consensus is overwhelmingly positive, praising the restaurant’s consistent quality and the genuine warmth of its hospitality.
For those craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine where every bowl of pho and plate of rice tells a story of rich heritage and masterful cooking, Doan’s Vietnamese Cuisine is a true Charlotte gem. Whether you're a pho aficionado or new to the flavors of Vietnam, this welcoming spot promises a memorable dining experience that hits all the right notes — comforting, fresh, and utterly delicious.
I got the pork summer rolls and the dipping sauce was good but the pork was dry and lacking in flavor. The beef pho was really good. Tasty broth and good amount of meat and noodles. I asked for chili oil and a little goes a long way and it was good. Not overwhelming. The Thai tea is good, it's just very milky.
Charlotte has a variety of options when it comes to Vitnamese cuisine, but Doan's has recently become my favorite of the bunch. The restaurant itself has a very nice and calming atmosphere - lovely decorations and relaxing music. The food is really excellent as well - my go to meal being summer rolls and a big hot bowl of Pho Ga - with their other food options being delicious as well. The family that runs the restaurant are also very kind and are attentive. All around great!
The service here is some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. They even offered to heat up my meal after I’d sat for a while finishing some work! The pho was savory and full of meat and the summer rolls were fresh and crunchy with a perfect peanut sauce! Can’t wait to go back here :)
Stopped by for lunch today after hearing good things about this place. Was not disappointed!! I’m by no means very knowledgeable about Pho etc, but really enjoy Vietnamese style food and the sauces. I ordered one of their simpler combos that included stir fry veggies/chicken in a nice sauce, white rice, a great wonton soup and the star of the dish, grilled pork. Absolutely loved it all, and they have the usual delicious sauce options at the table to set the spice level where you want it for everything. But the grilled pork, that was truly great! Will absolutely be back, look forward to many more meals here and explore more of the menu! Also of note, the dining room was very very clean.
We recently went back to Doan and were quite surprised. We have always thought that this is a solid restaurant. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is casual, and they keep a very clean environment. The surprise, and I am not sure how they did it, but believe it or not the food was even better than we had previously. Honestly it was some of the best Vietnamese we have had, period.
Loved this spot! Super fresh and very delicious food. The Pho was spectacular!
I travelled all the way from Seattle to try this place! Absolutely phenomenal Phö. The restaurant is super clean and the staff members are really friendly and accommodating. I brought a Viet Food first timer with me and I quote "The food is bangin!" High praise!
Doans - what can I say? Absolutely great! I have been coming to Doans for years. Whenever I am on this side of town, I call Doans. Never a disappointment or regret. I have never received a nasty attitude, snide remark, cold food, stale food, missing napkins or utensils or anything of the sort in bad food service. The food is expertly prepared and might I add, very delicious! Doans and their staff are the consummate professionals in food service. Thank you Doans for being the example of how a restaurant establishment treats and takes care of their customers!
